8 whole months!
We officially have known you longer on the outside than on the inside.
This is no small deal.
Every day is such a gift, every moment really.
I love getting to know you Haddon.
You are a funny little guy with such a strong personality.
You have been on the move this month – you sit, you stand (holding on to things), you crawl, you pull, you fall, and you get into things all.the.time.
If I ever can’t find you, you are in the bathroom, trying to get into your plastic tub. Good thing I don’t turn my back for long!
One of my favorite things you do … (I don’t know for how long this will be a favorite…) is that you yell! You hold on to something, stand up, and then until you realize you can fall back down on your butt if you need to, you just yell. I also wonder if you are just so excited and proud of yourself for standing you aren’t sure what else to do or say in the moment.
You are babbling more and more. Sometimes I even here your tone change and wonder what it is you are thinking about and wanting to communicate.
Speaking of communication, we are trying to teach you a few signs but mostly when you are hungry and want some more you just slap your high chair tray or open your mouth like a baby bird and again… yell.
You are like a little boy now, and quickly transforming before our eyes.
Right now you love to “read” your books, especially the Veggie Tale one that sings about God making you special. You’ll rip every board book off your shelf until you find that one.
You also love hungry caterpillar which mama may or may not be influencing… just a little.
You like to play with your toys and will occupy yourself for long periods of time playing with blocks, cups, stuffed animals, etc! You love the airplane that Laura got you and when mommy sings the song because it gets stuck in my head for hours, you look for the airplane… like “hey I know where that song comes from”. Such a smart little guy you are!
You are starting to understand stern voices and the word no. Sometimes you get really mad when we say it and you grunt, every now and then we have to say it a couple times before you get it, but you have been understanding it a lot more. One of my favorite memories of the month is when you were going for my hair dryer (that is kept in your room in front of the mirror closet haha) and mama said “Haddon, no”, in a real serious voice. You looked at it, looked at me, grunted, and then came crawling to my lap super fast. We want to teach you to obey, right away, all the way, and with a grateful heart (thanks Kiracofe family for that one). So far your heart is very teachable and it is making our job in training you up relatively easy.
Your gummy grins are turning into teethy giggles.
You are transforming in the blink of an eye. I could watch you for hours. In fact, I do, every now and then I let the dishes go, I let you crawl around on dirty floors, and the laundry piles up. It is amazing to see you developing.
We are so blessed to be the ones who are your everything right now.
MWAH. Mama loves you so SO much.
You sweet son, are my greatest, hardest, fascinating, most motivating, delightful, changing, joyous, and entertaining work.
